Although it’s very difficult to predict the influence of planets on a given individual without referring to his or her birth chart the following is intended only as a general guideline.  For confirmation, however, you must refer to your birth chart. Based on the assessment of planetary strengths or weaknesses in your birth chart, placement of planets in your current progressive regular and ninefold charts, and the current operating planetary cycles the following may or may not be applicable.  

Total Lunar Eclipse (Aug 28)

A total lunar eclipse occurs on August 28, approximately during the hours of 8:00 to 14:00 GMT.  This eclipse will be visible in the North American continent and in far East Asia and Australia.

This eclipse is important since the Sun and Moon will be within 2 degrees from Ketu and Rahu respectively, and therefore will last for a long time (6 hours). The eclipse will occur with the Southern or descending node Ketu, in the sidereal zodiac sign Leo and the ascending node Rahu in Aquarius . Consequently this eclipse, according to Vedic astrology, is likely to be unfavorable for those who have sidereal Leo or Aquarius rising or Leo or Aquarius as moon sign. 

For those who have in their natal charts the lunar nodes in conjunction with either Sun or Moon should watch-out.  It’s not a good day!  Take extra precaution and avoid any sort of outdoor activity requiring you to get out of house.

On world scene, the United Sates, Canada, and Mexico, and Pacific-rim countries including China and Japan, are likely to experience undesirable events.

Pluto-Jupiter ninefold quincunx (July 17 – Aug 16)

This is an important planetary event for people who deal with religion, religious and academic institutes. This quincunx could become responsible for a unique stalemate in the field of religion as the planet Pluto with its tremendous energy has a power to oppose and eventually transform religion and academics to a new level or setting with a new set of norms. 

In your birth chart if Jupiter and Pluto are either in quincunx or opposition, and if either of these planets is currently influencing your life via your current progressive chart, then you are perhaps standing on the thresh-hold of a new era that’s about to begin in your life. Depending on the houses these planets occupy in your birth chart, you are going to have a totally new and a very different experience in that particular field. Be ready to accept this new settings with new challenges as well as the rewards that come with them.

On a collective level, religious and academic and to some extent social fields are very likely to see changes coming in their respective fields.

Mars-Saturn square (July 29 – Aug 3)

Mars-Saturn square, for no apparent reason, changes a perfectly normal and healthy situation in to the one with a lot of tension and friction with new challenges. For those who have such square in their birth charts, and if any one of these planets are influencing them through the current progressive cycles certainly need to be on guard. If you must involve in an unwanted situation, be extra careful and try to minimize the damage. Experiences like fire burns, rape, accidents, loss of precious things, and monetary disasters are real possibilities.

On the world scene, a short term but very intensive friction between India and Pakistan is very likely. Terrorism and violence around the world, especially in Iraq and Israel-Palestine area will be on rise. Outbreak of an undesirable happening, and occurrences of both natural and man-made calamities are strong possibilities.

Mars-Pluto Quincunx (Aug 1 – 3)

This three-day period is likely to be very frustrating for those who have Mars-Pluto opposition, quincunx, square, or conjunction in their natal charts. Typically this quincunx is very unfavorable from the point of view of facing situations that are beyond our control. Unexpected problems are likely to occur with astonishing speed and without any notice.  For those who have such quincunx, opposition or conjunction in their birth chart, and if they have any one of these planets influencing them through the current progressive cycle need to be on guard. Stay very low key, do not make any new commitment, and avoid taking any sort of risk. Also, experiences like a sudden incident of fire, or an accident involving explosive material are very possible. 

On the world scene, sudden outbreak of an undesirable happening,  possibilities of both natural and man-made calamities are likely. The countries that are most likely to be affected during this period will be: the United States of America, Iraq, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Palestine and Israel.

Neptune-Rahu ninefold quincunx (Aug 19 – Sept 11)

If you have Neptune-Rahu quincunx (with either of these planets being especially in the sixth, eighth, or the twelfth house in their birth chart) and if your current operating cycle is influenced by one of these planets, then you are likely to experience instability in your life caused due to sudden change in your routine activities and surroundings.  Such experiences might turn out to be very unfortunate and frustrating.  It would certainly be wise not to commit to anything new and stay low key during this period.

On the collective level, social as well as economic turmoil in Russia and China can not be ruled out.  Eastern European countries are also likely to be negatively influenced by this planetary configuration.  Covert activities around the world may find a new momentum (but because of Neptune’s secretive character we may never know) with regard to terrorism and other international conflicts.

Uranus-Rahu (and Ketu) ninefold square(s) (Aug 1 – Sept 5)

Uranus-Rahu (and Ketu) ninefold squares are going to be very unfavorable for those who have such squares in their natal charts.  Expect sudden loss of money, power, demotions at work place and/or tarnished reputation in professional and social fields. If you have such squares in your birth chart, and if any one of these planets is presently influencing you through the current progressive cycle then you need be very careful. The best thing to do is not make any new commitment, and totally avoid taking any business or monetary risk. Remember the time when you felt financially very secured, happy with family, and suddenly the landscape turned against you and everything disappears. Well, if not exactly this way but something like this has a good potential to happen (again) …be careful!

On a collective level, United States and particularly the President Bush and his administration should take extra precaution in dealing with foreign matters. Terrorist activities are very likely to occur in the United States besides the volatile region of the Middle-East (Israel and Palestine). 

Saturn-Rahu (and Ketu) ninefold square(s) (Aug 13 – 16)

Saturn-Rahu (and Ketu) ninefold squares are going to be devastating for those who have such squares in their natal charts.  Anything that you attempt will be failed or result in agonizing and frustrating experience. This is not the time to take any risk.  If you have such squares in your birth chart, and if any one of these planets is presently influencing you through the current progressive cycle then you need be extra careful. The best thing to do is not make any new commitment, and totally avoid taking any business or monetary risk.   

On a collective level, barbaric activities all around the world are likely to increase. Terrorists are likely to be successful in creating confusion and chaos. Social turmoil in Europe and Russia is likely. Religious activities could get stalled for no apparent reason.

Neptune-Jupiter ninefold square (Aug 19 – 29)

Both Jupiter and Neptune are considered as auspicious planets. While Jupiter deals with outward and material things Neptune’s influence on us is very abstract and subtle. If you have such square in your birth chart, and if you have any one of these two planets influencing you through your current progressive cycle then you are certainly going to experience a transformation (irreversible change) in your beliefs and moral values that you have been attached to. It’s time for marching ahead with a quantum step in the process of self discovery (or evolution). Embrace this period with total openness and vulnerability. On the world scene, world religions are likely to be challenged with earthshaking ideas that they must attend to. Those religious leaders, who are willing to be open minded and ready to listen and act on new and fresh ideas, are the ones that going to be responsible to transform our religious world to a new level. Others are going to fade away with time. 

Pluto-Saturn ninefold conjunction (Aug 4 -8)

For those who have Pluto in conjunction with Saturn in their birth charts, watch out!  If Saturn and or Pluto influencing you now through your current progressive chart your life is more likely to be shaken up, and depending on the placement and the strength of these planets in your birth chart, the severity of the outcome will vary. Although the experience that you might go through seem unbearable, this may prove to be the beginning of the next plateau of your life cycle that you are destined for. 

On a collective level, the outbreak of violence and terrorism around the world is very probable. Also, natural calamities like earthquakes, severe weather conditions, natural as well as man made accidents are more likely during this period.

Uranus-Saturn ninefold conjunction (Aug 13 – 16)

The time when Saturn-Uranus ninefold conjunction occurs is not good for those who have such conjunction, opposition or square in their birth charts. In addition, if the planet Uranus or Saturn is affecting your life via your current progressive chart, then you might want to consider taking extra precautions in the areas which are affected by these planets as shown in your natal chart.  Such people should avoid taking any kind of risk at any cost during this period.  Such conjunction can make things so miserable and difficult for you that most likely you are not going to forget them in your entire life. Staying low key is certainly the way to go.  Avoid any new ventures and postpone the matters that you want to begin till this period is passed. 

On a collective level, the United States of America, Russia or China may experience social or political turmoil at home as well as tensions rising among them.
