Although it’s very difficult to predict the influence of planets on a given individual without referring to his or her birth chart the following is intended only as a general guideline. For confirmation, however, you must refer to your birth chart. Based on the assessment of planetary strengths or weaknesses in your birth chart, placement of planets in your current progressive regular and ninefold charts, and the current operating planetary cycles the following may or may not be applicable.
A total Solar Eclipse (August 21)
A total solar eclipse occurs on August 21 approximately during the hours of 17:00 to 19:00 of August 21 GMT. This total eclipse will be visible in continents of North America, and a partial eclipse will be visible in all of North America, northern South America, western Europe and Africa.
The total eclipse will be visible from a narrow corridor through the United States. It will be first seen from land in the US shortly after 10:15 a.m. PDT at Oregon’s Pacific coast, then will progress eastward through Salem, Casper, Lincoln, Kansas City, Nashville, and finally Charleston. A partial eclipse will be seen for a greater time period, beginning shortly after 9 a.m. PDT at Oregon’s Pacific coast.
The longest duration of totality will be 2 minutes 41.6 seconds at 37°35′0″N 89°7′0″W in Giant City State Park just south of Carbondale, Illinois and the greatest extent will be at 36°58′0″N 87°40′18″W near Cerulean, Kentucky between Hopkinsville and Princeton, Kentucky.
This eclipse is important since the Sun and Moon will be within 4 degrees from Rahu, the northern or ascending node in the sidereal zodiac sign Leo. Consequently this eclipse, according to Vedic astrology, is likely to be unfavorable for those who have sidereal Leo rising or Leo as moon sign.
For those who have the lunar nodes in conjunction with either Sun or Moon in their natal charts should watch-out. It’s not a good day! Take extra precaution and avoid any sort of outdoor activity requiring you to get out of house during the time of eclipse.
On world scene, East Asia, North America, Australia, China and Japan are likely to experience undesirable happenings.
Retrograde Mercury (Aug 13 – Sept 5)
On August 13, the planet Mercury becomes retrograde in sidereal Leo. It will stay retrograde in Leo until September 5. Typically retrograde Mercury means anxieties, communication breakdowns, unexpected delays, frustrations, missing deadlines, unforeseen obstacles and disappointment in daily chores. Retrograde Mercury in Leo means more frustrating periods for leaders in general, and particularly for those who are in politics, military, governments, academic area and researchers. This is the time not to start a new project or venture, but rather reflect on what’s been done so far. Also, this is the best time to cleanup that closet and do other chores that you have been postponing due to lack of time.
In addition, if you have dominating Mercury in your birth chart and if Mercury is currently your operating planet, then you are more likely to experience the pronounced effects of retrograde Mercury during this period with respect to matters signified by the house it’s currently transiting through in your progressive chart.
Uranus-Saturn ninefold sextile (July 21 – August 4)
Uranus-Saturn ninefold sextile is going to be favorable for those who have these planets favorably placed in their natal charts. Expect monetary as well as power gains, promotions and improved prestige in professional and social fields. The ideas that you always wanted to pursue but somehow could never get started….now is the time to follow that dream. However don’t neglect your family during this busy time. You will distinctly notice and feel the positive energy flowing through you during this period. It’s time to jump in and enjoy this period.
On a collective level, religious activities all around the world are likely to expand with new vigor and energy, conservatives will find ways to compromise with liberals on sticky issues. Democrats and Republicans will agree on more matters than the ones they disagree. This is a good time to get those lingering bills passed in U.S. Congress and Senates. China and Russia are likely to experience some mild setbacks in their foreign policies, especially the ones that deal with the United States.
Pluto-Jupiter Square (July 28 – August 9)
This is an important planetary event for people who deal with religion, religious and academic institutes. This square will create religious challenges as the planet Pluto with its tremendous energy has a power of irreversibly transforming the field of religion and academics to a new level or setting with a new set of norms.
In your birth chart if Jupiter and Pluto are either in square, and if either of these planets is currently influencing your life via your current progressive chart, then you are about to face new challenges in your life. Depending on the houses these planets occupy in your birth chart, you are going to have a totally new and very different and challenging experience in that particular field. Be ready to accept this new challenge since you could receive the rewards if you succeed.
On a collective level, religious and academic and to some extent social fields are very likely to see changes coming in their respective fields. Initial reaction to the change might appear to be a bit confusing and perhaps chaotic, but the majority of us are going to embrace this new wave of change and are very likely to enjoy it.
Neptune-Jupiter ninefold trine (July 30 – August 3)
This auspicious ninefold trine is good for all world religions as well as for people who are engaged in activities that help us expand morally, socially as well as materially.
For those who have well placed Jupiter and Neptune in their birth chart (conjunction, trine, sextile, opposition) are likely to have a very positive experience during this period. People involved in the religious activities are likely experience a sudden boost in their daily activities, and religious authorities are going to be well recognized by societies.
On a collective level, religious, academic, and social fields are very likely to enjoy the new and positive changes occurring in their respective field.
Uranus-Jupiter ninefold square (Aug 9-12)
While Jupiter deals with outward and material things Uranus’s influence on us is very sudden and with intensity. If you have such square in your birth chart, and if you have any one of these two planets influencing you through your current progressive cycle then you are certainly going to have an experience of an extreme transformation (irreversible change) in your beliefs and moral values that you have been attached to. This period is challenging. If you overcome the challenge, then it’s time for marching ahead with a quantum leap in the process of self discovery (or evolution).
On the world scene, world religions are likely to be challenged with earthshaking ideas that they must attend to. Those religious leaders, who are willing to be open minded and ready to listen and act on new and fresh ideas, are the ones that going to be responsible to transform our religious world to a new level. Saturn-Jupiter ninefold quincunx (Aug 7-9)
Jupiter-Saturn ninefold quincunx is going to be unfavorable for those who have Jupiter and Saturn are unfavorably placed in their natal charts. Frustration, loss of motivation, insecure feeling, loss of direction in life, general unhappiness are some of the symptoms of this quincunx. This is like a test period. A period that can be viewed a real positive opportunity from self discovery standpoint since it will require you to bring best out of you to deal with situations around you. If you have such quincunx in your birth chart, and if any one of these planets is presently influencing you through your current progressive cycle then you need to look at the things with a different attitude. The best thing to do is to stay the course of present action without making new commitment. Typically this quincunx is very unfavorable from the point of view of being deceived or becoming a victim of a scam or scheme. Usually one does not notice problems until it’s too late. For those who have such quincunx, opposition or conjunction in their birth charts, and if they have any one of these planets influencing them through the current progressive cycle need to be on guard and absolutely not take any risk whatsoever. Stay very low key and do not make any new commitment. Also, unwanted experiences involving external forces, such as ghost or spirit, or a victim of a voodoo experiment are very possible.
On the world scene, outbreak of covert activities among leading nations and possibilities of both natural and man-made calamities are likely.
Mars-Pluto Quincunx (Aug 14-16)
This short period is likely to be very frustrating for those who have Mars-Pluto opposition, quincunx, square, or conjunction in their natal charts. Typically this quincunx is very unfavorable from the point of view of facing situations that are beyond our control. Unexpected problems are likely to occur with astonishing speed and without any notice. For those who have such quincunx, opposition or conjunction in their birth chart, and if they have any one of these planets influencing them through the current progressive cycle need to be on guard. Stay very low key, do not make any new commitment, and avoid taking any sort of risk. Also, experiences like a sudden incident of fire, or an accident involving explosive material are very possible.
On the world scene, sudden outbreak of an undesirable happening, possibilities of both natural and man-made calamities are likely.
Pluto-Rahu ninefold quincunx (Aug 13-31)
Unless these planets are favorably placed in your birth chart, such quincunx between Pluto and any one of the lunar nodes, in general, means drastic unwanted changes (transformations) pertaining to aspects of your life described by the houses they belong to. Usually such transformations are very painful if lunar node Rahu (or Ketu), and/or Pluto is affecting your life via your current progressive chart. In my opinion, best way to deal with this situation is to (which is not easy to do) accept the inevitable change, and move on with your life. There’s no point in brooding over it, and not letting your past go.
On a collective level, an eruption of new waves of violence in the Palestine-Israel, Syria and Afghanistan-Pakistan regions are likely. And perhaps, towards the end of this period due to Pluto’s transformation process, the resulting changes are likely to become irreversible.
Saturn-Jupiter sextile (Aug 21-31)
Jupiter-Saturn sextile is favorable for those who have such sextile in their natal charts. A proper balance between the optimism and conservatism will protect you from becoming over optimistic (or aggressive) as well as over protective. If you have such sextile in your birth chart, and if any one of these planets is presently influencing you through the current progressive cycle then you are likely to enjoy this period with full vigor and success as it would seem to come to you naturally. So enjoy!
On a collective level, religions around the world will enjoy their activities with positive experiences. People will likely to be convinced with the importance of moral values and will have no difficulty in maintaining their religious faith.
Mars-Rahu conjunction and Mars-Ketu opposition (Aug 24-26)
During these three days Mars conjuncts Rahu and opposes Ketu. Typically Mar’s conjunction and opposition with lunar nodes are very unfavorable and unfortunate in general. For those who have such oppositions or conjunctions in their birth chart, and if they have any one of these planets influencing them through the current progressive cycle need be very careful about the matters indicated by the respective houses in their birth charts. Probably the best thing to do is to lay low key, not make any new commitment and avoid taking any unnecessary risk.
On the world scene, during these days both natural and man-made calamities causing destruction and loss of lives, and perhaps a demise of an international level political leader are likely.
