The month of September is certainly going to very eventful from the planetary energy standpoint.
One of the most important planetary events of the month is the Saturn-Uranus square that happens during Sept 15 – Oct 23 as they square each other within a degree. While the significance of the energy of this square is outlined below in detail, the most striking aspect of this square would most likely be evident in clashes between the democratic and totalitarian regimes of the world, especially between the Unites States and Russia, United States and China.
However, on a positive note, a potential for profound spiritual growth, both individually and collectively is an amazing silver lining of this materially destructive Uranus-Saturn square.
On September 10, Mercury becomes retrograde in sidereal Virgo. It will stay retrograde in Virgo all the time until it becomes direct on October 2. Typically retrograde Mercury means anxieties, communication breakdowns, unexpected delays, frustrations, missing deadlines, unforeseen obstacles and disappointment in daily chores.
Furthermore, since Saturn’s return to the sidereal Capricorn on July 14 joining Pluto continues the course of destructive and fearful period, war like atmosphere, future uncertainties, senseless killings and chaotic situations all around the world, especially in the United States and Ukraine. The uncertainties and anxieties will clearly be reflected in the volatile world financial markets.
As the Neptune returns to the sidereal Aquarius around September 17 we are likely see a temporary but a sudden shift in our collective consciousness. This shift is likely to prove to be a confusing one. While the Pisces is a perfect sign for spiritual Neptune, the next best sign for Neptune is the humanitarian air sign Aquarius. Pisces Neptune is that of heart while the Aquarius Neptune operates from mind. Therefore, for the next six months, a departure of spiritual Neptune from Pisces to the humanity friendly Aquarius is also positive for Neptune.
And finally, since my early teen years the month of September had always reminded me the Bobby Darin’s famous “Come September” theme song, and as a reflex action I used to hum it. After long hot summer months, seemingly September brings new energy in life. It reminds us that despite all the difficulties and challenges, life can be wonderful and worth living if we allow ourselves to discover and understand the true meaning of life which is always reflected underneath our daily experiences. Ironically, this is the positive spiritual aspect of the materially destructive Uranus-Saturn square. And then we realize that joy has no bounds. It’s infinite and timeless! This theme song of “Come September”, I think, somehow transcends all religions, races, cultures and prejudices and becomes a symbol of youth, new energy, new beginning, joy and love. In that spirit let us celebrate September!
Retrograde Mercury (Sept 10 – Oct 2)
On September 10, the planet Mercury becomes retrograde in sidereal Virgo. It will stay retrograde in Virgo all the time until it becomes direct on October 2. Typically retrograde Mercury means anxieties, communication breakdowns, unexpected delays, frustrations, missing deadlines, unforeseen obstacles and disappointment in daily chores. Retrograde Mercury in Virgo means more frustrating periods for small businesses, working class blue collar people, money managers, farmers, builders, and students. This is not a good time to start a new project or venture, but rather reflect on what’s been done so far. Also, this is the best time to cleanup that closet and do other chores that you have been postponing due to lack of time.
In addition, if you have dominating Mercury in your birth chart and if Mercury is currently as your active planet, then you are more likely to experience pronounced effects of retrograde Mercury during this period with respect to matters signified by the house it’s currently transiting through in your Gochar (transit) chart. However, for those who have Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Aquarius, Aries or Gemini as their ninefold ascendant are least likely to be affected during this period.
Saturn-Uranus Square (Sept 15 – Oct 23)
One of the most important and deadly planetary combinations of 2022 is the Capricorn Saturn and Aries Uranus square, which occurs within one degree during Sept 15-Oct 23.
Aries being a fire and cardinal sign is very suitable for brilliant, independent, ambitious, energetic, impulsive and crazy Uranus. The changes in world political landscape have been tremendously influenced by Uranus’s transit in Aries (Brexit’s revival, Briton intensely suffering from Covid-19 crisis, humiliating defeat of Donald Trump despite last ditch efforts to overturn the results and Jan 6 hearings, etc.,).
Now combine the Uranus’s energy with that of steadfast and subtle but very powerful energy of Capricorn Saturn through its challenging square with Uranus. It’s a perfect combination for material world disasters including the natural calamities such as a possible outbreak and spreading of a new virus. Unless these energies are properly understood, the man-made calamities might include increased friction between world powers (USA-Russia and China) perhaps resulting into war-like climate.
The people who are likely to be most affected by this square are military personnel, people in power such as business and political leaders. In scientific and technological areas expect drastic changes and emerging new ideas will find their ways into innovations and discoveries. Since the characteristics of Uranus are closely tied with that of the United States as a country (especially the states of California, Oregon and Washington) a likelihood of serious natural and man-made calamity, political and financial upheaval is very strong.
Thus, the manifestation of this undesirable planetary square is likely to be reflected in both the natural and man-made calamities causing destruction and loss of lives during this period. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if an intense battle emerges between the right wing republicans and the left wing democrats not only in congress but all over the country that might last through this period.
However, a potential for profound spiritual growth, both individually and collectively is an amazing silver lining of this materially destructive Uranus-Saturn square.
Rahu-Uranus conjunction in sidereal Aries (June 21 – Sept 20)
The north lunar node, Rahu has been in conjunction with Uranus in sidereal Aries within three degrees during June 21 – Sept 20. As a result, Rahu’s karmic energy will certainly be on display during this conjunction period. It will certainly affect the political climate (Aries) of the United States (Uranus) in a big way as this period directly confronts with the country’s Karma (Rahu).
The political turmoil and social unrest in the United States (due to the overturning of the Roe vs Wade, Jan 6 hearing bringing out the facts behind the attack on the US Capitol), natural and man-made calamities around the world including west coast wild fires, climate changes, continued racial violence in the United States, senseless killings in Ukraine war etc., are likely to continue to be more intensive during this period.
However, the silver lining of this planetary event is the process of much needed transformation for the United States to come out by breaking this frustrating and agonizing cycle.
Incidentally a future US president is likely to be born during June 21 – Sept 20.
Saturn’s return to sidereal Capricorn (July 14 – April 15, 2023)
On July 14, Saturn with its retrograde motion returned to sidereal Capricorn and it will stay in Capricorn until April 15, 2023.
Capricorn being the earth and cardinal sign, Saturn’s energy has strongly been reflected in the volatility and changes in the world financial markets, especially the energy (oil) markets, economy and material expansion/contraction. Entrepreneurs, business leaders, politicians, philanthropists, philosophers, scientists, reformers and to some extent monks will shape the future of the world. Those who have Saturn in Capricorn (Saturn return) in their natal charts will be experiencing Saturn’s energy as their lives get transformed to a new settings due to a drastic change (mostly) at material and psychological levels. In my opinion, despite a painful period of frustration due to unexpected drastic changes in life, it’s going to be an exciting period for those who have dominant Saturn in their birth chart and have Pisces, Aries, Leo and Scorpio as their natal ninefold (Navamansha) ascendant.
Furthermore, the Saturn’s return to the sidereal Capricorn on July 14, joining Pluto will certainly not let up the destructive and fearful period, war like atmosphere, effect of the climate changes, future uncertainties, senseless killings and chaotic situations all around the world, especially in the United States.
Is Russian-Ukraine war and senseless killings… going away?
Like in August, during September the momentum of the war between Russia and Ukraine will continue with unprecedented casualties on both sides. It’s very likely that US involvement in this war become more prominent due to the Uranus-Saturn square (Sept 15 – Oct 23). Until Saturn completely returns to Aquarius (April 2023), the Ukraine war is likely to continue its course devastating and destabilizing the country.
Neptune’s temporary return to the Sidereal Aquarius (Sept 17 – Feb 16)
As the Neptune returns to the sidereal Aquarius around September 17 we are likely see a temporary but a sudden shift in our collective consciousness. Aquarius, being the sign for academics, scientists, musicians, paranormal people, and philosophers, these respective fields will go through significant transformations to reflect the new norms of morality and ethics, advances in science and technology keeping in line with steady progress in longevity, and creation of arts and music that complements our spiritual progress.
President Biden’s challenges in September
As I mentioned last month, for President Biden, August did prove to be a month of slow recovery as both the economic conditions and political climates turned into a favorable direction for him. And it is clearly reflected in the latest polls.
According to his current Dasa in Vedic astrology, he will be finishing his Jupiter’s major period of last 16 years on or around September 8, 2022, and will be staring a brand new Saturn’s major cycle of 19 years. This will be a major cycle shift and although it takes at least a few months to see the shift it will certainly be reflected in his activities going forward.
In his natal chart, the Taurus Saturn rules the third and the fourth house, and occupies the 7th house. It sextiles Pluto within three degrees, a very favorable aspect, especially Pluto being in the Nakshatra (constellation) ruled by Saturn becomes a very important and active planet for him for the next 19 years. During the next 17-18 years the transiting Pluto will be in the 4th house of his transit chart, thus making it extremely powerful planet for him going forward.
Pluto being the planet of transformation and a total change, expect drastic changes occurring on the political landscape. In the next few months it may seem to be a very chaotic political climate in the USA, but it will all fall in place (a much needed transformation) when we look back few years from now. Perhaps this is a part of the Nature’s doing as we grow both collectively and spiritually.
As for this month, until September 8, he will continue to be dealing with his adversaries, health issues and perhaps few minor setbacks for his domestic agenda. He may travel and, in general, will be somewhat worried about his party and future.
After September 8, with Saturn’s major, intermediate and sub-cycle, the planets that fall in the constellations ruled by Saturn become active are: Pluto, Venus and Sun.
Presently both the transiting and the ninefold transiting Pluto are going to be in the 4th house, causing a prominent shift for focusing on the domestic agenda, and politics. There will be a drastic change the way politics will be played.
As for Venus, it’s very favorable for him from the success and recognition standpoint. Sun will be favorable during the first half of the month, and stressful during the second.
In addition, the opposition of the transiting Pluto to his natal Jupiter will certainly prove to be very challenging in successfully governing the country. However, during the same time, for the long term, the steps he might take to govern the country may prove to be a blessing since the transiting Jupiter trines his natal Pluto providing him with an opportunity for extraordinary transformation.
Overall, although seemingly chaotic, September may prove to be a month of slow but positive change as the economic conditions and political climate favor his political agenda.
