Retrograde Mercury (Feb 17 – Mar 10) 

On February 17, the planet Mercury becomes retrograde in sidereal Aquarius. It will stay retrograde in Aquarius until march 10. Typically retrograde Mercury means anxieties, communication breakdowns, unexpected delays, frustrations, missing deadlines, unforeseen obstacles and disappointment in daily chores. Retrograde Mercury in Aquarius means more frustrating periods for educators, academics, philosophers, philanthropists, social reformers, activists and researchers. This is not a good time to start a new project or venture, but rather reflect on what’s been done so far.  Also, this is the best time to cleanup that closet and do other chores that you have been postponing due to lack of time.

In addition, if you have dominating Mercury in your birth chart and if Mercury is currently your operating planet, then you are more likely to experience the pronounced effects of retrograde Mercury during this period with respect to matters signified by the house it’s currently transiting through in your Gochar (transit) chart.

Pluto in Sagittarius and Saturn in Capricorn conjunction (Jan 23 – Feb 17) 

On December 6, 2019, the first time since about last 36 years, Saturn approached Pluto (with in 3 degree orb) in sidereal  Sagittarius (almost close to the end of Sidereal Sagittarius); then Saturn entered Capricorn on January 23 and this conjunction (with Pluto still in Sagittarius and Saturn in Capricorn) within three degrees continues until February 17. The two spiritual planets in conjunction, with Plito in the spiritual sign Sagittarius ruled by Jupiter and Saturn in its own spiritual sign Capricorn makes this planetary event extremely powerful and spiritual.  

Pluto is a planet of transformation.  The process is irreversible and very subtle.  The old must die for the new  to be born. Thus, it brings drastic changes in our collective moral and spiritual perceptions (consciousness), as Pluto breaks away from the traditional barriers of our collective prejudices and conditionings. 

Sagittarius being the sign that deals with religious philosophy and teachings, this is a period of religious or philosophical revolution, and the way we perceive the surroundings through our conditioned (based on our upbringing and prejudices) lens is likely to be transformed during this period.  And when Pluto conjuncts Saturn, the process of transformation becomes exceptionally significant, as the manifestation of the synergy of these two spiritual planets will clearly reflect in (drastic) events happening all around us (or our world).

Sagittarius, being the sign for justice and judicial system, the conventional norms of our judicial systems are likely to come under attack and scrutiny, and transform into to reflect the new norms of morality and ethics. The manifestation of this conjunction would certainly reflect in the senate impeachment trial of president Trump during this period.  With Saturn’s conjunction, Pluto’s energy will accelerate the process of transformation. And such transformations are inevitably accompanied by painful experiences. Therefore, the likelihood of war, violence, uprisings, social conflicts and anxiety filled atmosphere all around the world are real possibilities, especially in places like Middle-East, and in particular, in Israeli and Palestine region.

The world financial markets will continue to be very volatile during this period.

In scientific and technological areas, a lot of drastic changes and emerging new ideas will find their ways into innovations and discoveries that are aligned with our collective spiritual progress, as those (new ideas) will be more focused in areas that will bridge the gap between the science and morality. The likely areas of research will be in biotechnology, medicine, spiritual healing, and life-force related activities. A new wave of philosophers with their new perspectives on living, in general, will certainly transform our world to a new level of understanding. 

About President Donald Trump and his Senate Impeachment Trial

President Trump’s operating planets (the planets that presently active for him) for February continue to be Saturn and Venus. And they will continue to be operating planets for him for several more years. 

During February Saturn will be in the sidereal Capricorn, in the eighth house  of his Gochar (transit) chart.  Also, in his ninefold Gochar (transit) chart, Saturn will be in the 8th house until February 23 and then in the 9th house for the rest of the month. Venus will be in sidereal Aquarius (the 9th house of his Gochar chart) until February 3, and then in sidereal Pisces for the rest of the month.

From Dasa standpoint, Saturn continues to be unfavorable, being in the eighth house of his Gochar (transit) and in the 8th and 9th house of his ninefold Gochar (transit) chart.  As a result, President Trump becomes self-destructive and continues to face challenges in dealing with his friends and adversaries alike. In addition to be frustrated and depressed, he is likely to be in the company of wrong people. In light of his on going  impeachment trial in the Senate, he will continue to have an on going friction with democrats of several committees as the impeachment trial process unfolds. Furthermore, he will be dealing with his self-created feud with congress men and women and others.  Overall chaos, fear,  confusion and disappointment become keywords to describe his political experiences.

In addition, the manifestation of the 10th house (Feb 3-28) resident transiting Venus is likely to be very unfavorable for him for the entire month as he will be creating more feuds with women politicians and his adversaries in general. 

And the most severe challenge due to the opposition of transiting Saturn to his natal Saturn during the first half of February is very likely to turn out to be extremely intensive for him from holding on to power standpoint for he would likely to be overwhelmed by defeat and humiliation.  The same time the transiting Pluto will be opposing his natal Saturn, further making the situation worse.

Thus, duringFebruary, the challenging transit of Saturn present very intensive and painful time for him.  In addition, the opposition of the transiting Saturn and Pluto to his natal Saturn will certainly create explosive political climate and serious personal challenges from legality and insecurity standpoint, resulting in  yet another trying and frustrating month for him to deal with the looming Senate impeachment trial, his taxes and business dealings and suspicious and insecure people around him. And that might result in bringing him down with unwanted challenges and failures, further accelerating his downfall.

However, when one looks at the close conjunction of Sun and Rahu, and Rahu and Uranus in the 10th house of his natal chart,  and Moon in very close conjunction with the lunar node Ketu in the 4th house of his natal chart, it’s not very surprising why he operates the way he does.  It seems to me, he is totally driven by the country’s (USA) destiny (at least at this point in history) which is very closely tied with his own due to the Rahu-Uranus conjunction in the 10th house of his natal chart.

It’s the reflection of what collectively the country (USA) as a whole is going through at this point in time. Perhaps, it’s a part of painful process of transformation and discovery of the next phase of its evolution, as reflected in constant churning (and becoming aware of them) of our die hard social prejudices and inherent, deeply rooted biases. If the country’s destiny is at the crossroad of “CHANGE” at this point in history, that will certainly be reflected in political events of January.

Global Predictions……..

The important challenging planetary configurations for February include Rahu-Mars (Feb 23-25)  opposition, Neptune-Jupiter (Feb 19-22)  ninefold opposition;  Uranus-Rahu (Feb 2-10) and Uranus-Saturn (Feb 10-17) ninefold quincunxes; Saturn-Jupiter (Feb 11-17) and Neptune-Saturn (Feb 24 – Mar 5) ninefold squares; and Saturn-Rahu (Feb 8-11) ninefold conjunction.

While the Rahu-Mars (Feb 23-25) opposition may become responsible for both natural and man-made calamities causing destruction and loss of lives, and perhaps a demise of an international level political leader, the Neptune-Jupiter (Feb 19-22)  ninefold opposition may become cause for challenges that world religions and their leaders might face with earthshaking ideas that they must attend to. Those religious leaders, who are willing to be open minded and ready to listen and act on new and fresh ideas, are the ones that going to be responsible to transform our religious world to a new level. Others are going to fade away with time. 

The Uranus-Rahu (Feb 2-10) ninefold quincunx may mean difficult period for the United States in general, and the Republican Party in particular. Also, USA and China may go through a crisis situation during this period. 

The Uranus-Saturn (Feb 10-17) ninefold quincunx may become responsible for social or political turmoil in USA, Russia and/or Chaina, as well as rising tensions among these nations.

The manifestation of the Saturn-Jupiter (Feb 11-17) ninefold square may be reflected in religions around the world finding difficulty in carrying out their activities, more controversies that test traditional moral values, and in general, religious authorities having difficulty in keeping people happy.

The Neptune-Saturn (Feb 24 – Mar 5) ninefold square may become responsible for difficult time for China as well as for Russia.

The Saturn-Rahu (Feb 8-11) ninefold conjunction may become responsible for social or political turmoil for Russia, China and to some extent for Europe. Also, for the Republican Party in the United States and for republicans, it may prove to be prudent to stay on guard during this period.

The important auspicious planetary configuration for February include Pluto-Neptune (Jan 30 – Feb 2) and Neptune-Rahu (Feb 29 – Mar 7) ninefold trines; and Neptune-Jupiter (Feb 15-26) sextile.

The manifestation of the Pluto-Neptune (Jan 30 – Feb 2) ninefold trine maybe reflected in positive breakthroughs in medical, high technology and biotechnology fields. Also, it may become responsible for a positive period for Russia and to some extent for China.

Neptune-Rahu (Feb 29 – Mar 7) ninefold trine may become responsible for vigorous expansion of religious activities all around the world with new energy, conservatives likely to have upper hand over the liberals, China and Russia are likely to see positive developments occurring in social and economical fields.

The Neptune-Jupiter (Feb 15-26) sextile may activate the energy that becomes responsible for new and positive changes in religious, academic, and social fields.
