One of the important planetary events of this year is the transit of the modern planet Pluto from the sidereal zodiac sign Scorpio to Sagittarius. It first occurs on January 28. Pluto stays in Sagittarius till May 28, and then with its retrograde motion returns to Scorpio and stays in Scorpio till November 28. After November 28, 2005 it will remain in Sagittarius for the following 14 to15 years (till February 2020). Although it’s going to be in Sagittarius for only about 4 months before it returns to Scorpio, Pluto being the planet of transformation will certainly affect the matters related to Sagittarius in a big way. The drastic changes in our collective moral and religious perceptions are certainly going to be manifested in the way we never experienced before by Pluto’s transit in Sagittarius. This era (next 15 years) will be remembered as the period of religious revolution. The way we have been used to deal with religions will no longer be our norms. Although it’s very likely that some of the world religions will either become obsolete or transformed into other forms the religious or moral codes will be greatly influenced by our collective spiritual experiences. And in that sense a subtle but most effective transformation of world religions during this unique era of 15 years is likely to take us to a level where the norms solely based on spiritual experiences will dictate and guide our lives with new level of understanding.
In scientific and technological areas a lot of drastic changes and emerging new ideas will find their way into innovations and discoveries. The scientific and technological growth rate will rise at a very rapid pace. However, it will be the first time the scientific and technological research will be more focused in areas that will attempt to bridge the gap between the science and morality or spirituality or meta-physical science. The likely areas of research will be in biotechnology, medicine, spiritual healing, and life-force related activities. A new wave of philosophers with their new perspectives on living, in general, will certainly transform our world in next 15 years to a new level of understanding.
Even as we enter the new year (2005) the important and auspicious planetary configurations still continue to be: Neptune-Uranus ninefold opposition (Oct 30 – Jan 25), Saturn-Ketu (Nov 11 – Jan 10) ninefold trine and the Saturn-Rahu ninefold sextile.
From the human evolution standpoint the Neptune-Uranus ninefold opposition is very important as these modern planets will accelerate the process of human evolution not only just in the technical and scientific areas but also in social and religious fields. Since both Neptune and Uranus have been at very close to their slowest possible orbital motion and will remain almost at that level for another two months or so this ninefold opposition is going to last through January 25, 2005. Therefore, this period is going to be extremely important.
Because the United States of America is directly influenced by Uranus, this opposition will be distinctly reflected in the transformation of American ideals and convictions through the new political and social changes. The norms that Americans have been used to will certainly going to be transformed to a new setting, and as a result, world politics will be significantly affected. In the short run it may seem to be a chaotic and confusing situation (deception, attitude of reluctance to change) but in the long run it seems this is a much needed change required for Americans to evolve both socially and morally.
In addition to USA, Russia is likely to be significantly influenced by this Uranus-Neptune opposition (Nov 11 – Jan 10) as its manifestation will be reflected in sudden change (either positive and negative) in relationships between USA and Russia (and countries of former Soviet Union). This probably has been reflected in the recent stress created by Ukraine voting result (and the subsequent re-election in the last week of December) in the diplomatic relationship between the two countries. And the last but not the least important are the magnificent advances that have been taking place through this period in science and technology through innovations, inventions, and discoveries.
The other important planetary configurations for January are: Uranus-Saturn (Jan 7 -11) ninefold opposition, Saturn-Mars (Jan 26-29) and Pluto-Saturn (Jan 11-28) quincunxes, Mars-Uranus square (Dec 29-Jan 2) and Mars-Pluto (Jan 27-30) conjunction. These planetary configurations are likely to be responsible for violence, suicide bombings, terrorism, and natural and manmade calamities all around the world, especially in the United States, Russia, and the middle east region.
The countries that are likely to make headline news are: United States, Russia, Iraq, Middle Eastern countries including Israel and Palestine.

President Bush and his administration:
For president Bush, from December 20 onwards (Dec 20 – Feb 17), Neptune quincunxes his natal Sun. In his ninefold progressive chart the ninefold Neptune will be in the ninth house. He is likely to make overseas trip for improving diplomatic relations with countries which have been opposing the Iraq war. However, deception could play a major role in these diplomatic maneuvering exercises. Also during the first three weeks of January the lunar nodes will be squaring his natal Saturn, and as a result, he will have tough time dealing with his adversaries as well as with the on going crisis in Iraq. Nonetheless Jupiter’s transit over his natal Moon and Jupiter is certainly going to be very positive for him, and it will overcome most of his negative forces to accomplish his both domestic and international political goals. As the Planet Uranus rules the The United States of America, the Uranus-Neptune opposition (Oct 30 – Jan 15) will be distinctly reflected in the transformation of American ideals and convictions through the new political and social changes. The norms that Americans have been used to will certainly going to be transformed, and as a result, world politics will be significantly affected. In the short run it may seem to be a chaotic and confusing situation (deception, attitude of reluctance to change, etc.,) but in the long run it seems this is a much needed change required for Americans to evolve both socially and morally. To put it differently, perhaps it’s the force of American destiny causing Americans to go through a series of unique and painful experiences before it transforms the nation to a new reality.

During the first three weeks of the month (especially during Jan 7-11) the friction with Russia as well as with European countries is likely to get worse. The Mars-Uranus square (Dec 28 – Jan 2) may become responsible for either a natural or man-made calamity. The third week is not positive for republican leaders including president Bush.
· Russia: Putin administration will continue to stay in defensive mode in dealing with international politics including the Ukraine post-election crisis, especially during the second and the third week of the month. However, despite its difficulties, the Putin administration will do well on domestic front and likely to succeed in regaining its positive image.
· Europe: Pluto-Saturn ninefold square (Jan 17 -22 ) may be responsible for political friction between the USA and the European countries, and to some extent for an unfortunate event like suicide bombing or terrorism related activity.
· Religion: Ninefold squares between Jupiter and lunar nodes (Jan 6 – 10) and Uranus-Jupiter ninefold quincunx (Jan 1 – 6) may put pressure on religious authorities to defend their agendas as a result of either direct attack by their counterparts or due to undesirable event.
· Natural and Man-made Calamities: Uranus-Saturn ninefold opposition (Jan 7 – 11), Pluto-Saturn ninefold square (Jan 17 – 22), Mars-Pluto square (Jan 27 – 30), and Mars-Saturn quincunx are likely to be responsible for both man-made and natural calamities during January. Since Saturn, Mars and Pluto both being in water signs of the sidereal zodiac, majority of such events are likely to occur near coastal regions or on water. Of course Uranus-Saturn ninefold opposition and Mars-Saturn square will continue to create havoc in Iraq and the middle east region including Israel and Palestine. Winter storms in the United States may prove to be severe.
While man-made calamities may manifest themselves in terrorism, unrest, violence, and accidents, the natural calamities are likely to include extreme weather conditions such as severe cold winters, and equally intensive droughts; and thunderstorms, earthquakes, air crashes and fires.
