Monthly Global Predictions for May 2016

Date Posted: April 30, 2016

About five retrograde planets in May 2016……..

May is going to be one of the slowest and frustrating months of 2016 due to five major retrograde planets.  And they are: Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto.

Mercury

On April 29, the planet Mercury turned retrograde in sidereal Aries. It will stay retrograde in Aries until May 23. Typically retrograde Mercury means anxieties, communication breakdowns, unexpected delays, frustrations, missing deadlines, unforeseen obstacles and disappointment in daily chores. Retrograde Mercury in Aries means more frustrating periods for managers, military personnel, politicians, leaders, administrators, head of the states, governors, mayors, etc., This is the time not to start a new project or venture, but rather reflect on what’s been done so far.  Also, this is the best time to cleanup that closet and do other chores that you have been postponing due to lack of time.

Mars

On April 18, Mars turned retrograde in the sidereal zodiac sign Scorpio, via it’s retrograde motion it returns to Libra on June 18, and stays retrograde till June 30. Astrologically speaking, what does the retrograde Mars mean? And what can we expect from the retrograde Mars?    In general, when a planet turns retrograde, the positive energy offered by that planet is expected to slowly diminish.  In case of Mars, being a planet of total independence, high ego, and less maturity usually make things worse with incredible speed.

For those of you who have predominant Mars in their birth chart and if it’s influencing you through the current progressive chart, then you are very likely to experience a sudden setback in your professional as well as in other activities.  You may have to repeat things over many times to get it right, or you may have to deal with unfortunate and totally unexpected circumstances, and in general, you may end up in having a very frustrating experience.  In particular, engineers, designers, construction workers, people who work in military, leaders, managers and like are likely to be more affected than others.

On collective level, expect a political tension building among developed nations.  Destruction of wealth due to natural calamities or man made accidents are also very likely. Other possibilities include a sudden rise in terrorist activities, escalation in a warlike climate between Israelis and Palestinians, and increased covert activities among nations.

Jupiter

Jupiter, which became retrograde on January 8, will stay retrograde until May 10, 2016 in the sidereal zodiac Leo.  For those who have a well placed Jupiter in their birth charts and if Jupiter’s period is currently in operation, such people are likely to feel the deceleration in their progress.  Remember it’s only temporary!  Need to put more energy in to whatever you do to achieve what you need to achieve.

Saturn

Saturn became retrograde on March 15 in sidereal Scorpio and is going to stay retrograde till August 13, 2016.  For those who have a well placed Saturn in their birth charts and if Saturn’s period is currently in operation, then they are likely to experience slow progress. Best way to deal with retrograde Saturn is to put more energy in to whatever you do to work towards your goal.

On the world scene, generally, the projects that deal with expansion are likely to either stay on hold or experience sluggish progress.  In religious world, things are likely to move at frustratingly slow rate.  In the political arena what may seem like progress will turn out to be a disaster.

Pluto

Pluto turned retrograde on April 18, and it will stay retrograde till September 26.  The Pluto energy is very subtle and the process of its manifestation is slow.  It’s very transformational planet, and for those who have predominant Pluto in their chart will likely to feel this unique energy.  On collective level, Pluto is responsible for world spiritual transformation.  During this period the process of transformation may appear to be slow or stalled.

About transit of Mars in Scorpio……

The Planet Mars entered the sidereal zodiac sign Scorpio on February 20. While in Scorpio, it turned retrograde on April 18.  With its retrograde motion it goes back in Libra on June 18.  It becomes direct in Libra on June 30 and then with it’s direct motion re-enters Scorpio on July 11.  It remains in Scorpio until September 18.  Thus, except for June 18- July 11, Mars occupies Scorpio from February 20 through September 18.  Saturn, being in Scorpio all through 2016, conjuncts Mars with one degree orb during August 20-28.

Scorpio being a water and fixed sign ruled by Mars, it becomes extremely challenging for Scorpio resident Saturn when Mars is in Scorpio.  Because by nature, Mars and Saturn do not complement each other, when Mars dominates (being the ruler of Scorpio) Saturn is naturally going to feel totally out of place in Scorpio.  Furthermore, because Scorpio is a water (emotional) sign, Saturn in Scorpio feels suffocated, withdrawn and paralyzed.  Due to the presence of Mars, Saturn is very likely to go off track and potentially become self-destructive.

As a result of this challenging combination of Saturn and Mars in Scorpio, February 20 through September 18 will be filled with undesirable activities that will affect not only the Middle-East but the entire world. Some of the manifestations of this conjunction are: terrorism, ongoing barbaric activities, senseless killings, persecutions, pain and suffering, violence, wars and intolerable and tragic situations for those who cannot defend themselves. In the United States, the Republican Party will go through a dramatic and painful experience since Saturn represents conservative principles.  Financial markets, especially oil and energy-related markets will exhibit tremendous volatility. Natural calamities, including extreme weather conditions, abnormal weather patterns, earthquakes of significant magnitude, wildfires, hurricanes, snow storms etc., are likely to occur more frequently. Those who are born with the Scorpio as ascendant or with Moon in Scorpio are likely to experience difficult period filled with challenges; but the very same experience will likely to provide them with the opportunity to transform their lives in a positive way (self-discovery).

Global Predictions……

The important challenging planetary configurations for May include Saturn-Jupiter (May 16 – June 1) square and Uranus-Saturn (May 30 – June 4) ninefold square.

The Saturn-Jupiter (May 16 – June 1) square may become responsible for a challenging period for world religious leaders to carryout their activities.  The possibility of more controversies that test traditional moral values are likely to occur, and in general, religious authorities will have difficulty in keeping people happy.

The manifestation of the Uranus-Saturn (May 30 – June 4) ninefold square may be reflected in a social or political turmoil in the USA, Russia or China, and the rising friction among these countries.

The important auspicious planetary configurations for May include Pluto-Rahu (May 18 – July 20) trine, Pluto-Saturn (May 18-29), Neptune-Saturn (May 3-10) and Uranus-Saturn (May 1-6) ninefold sextiles and Neptune-Uranus (April 16 – May 7) ninefold conjunction.

The Pluto-Rahu (May 18 – July 20) trine is positive for global economy. This period is also favorable for progress in technical fields (new innovations and discoveries) and religious reconciliation.

The manifestation of Pluto-Saturn (May 18-29), Neptune-Saturn (May 3-10) and Uranus-Saturn (May 1-6) ninefold sextiles may be reflected in good period for European and Russian economy and conservatives in the United States likely to find ways to expand their agenda without compromising with liberals on sticky issues. Religious activities all around the world are likely to expand with new vigor and energy. China and Russia are likely to experience some mild setbacks in their foreign policies, especially the ones that deal with the United States.

The Neptune-Uranus (April 16 – May 7) ninefold conjunction may become responsible for a sudden change (either positive and negative) in relationship between USA and Russia, magnificent advances in science and technology through innovations, inventions, and discoveries.

The countries that are more likely to be affected during this month are:  Russia, China, Europe and the Middle East (Syria, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan and Palestine-Israel regions).

About President Obama….

President Obama’s operating planets (the planets that presently influence him most) continue to be Mercury, Sun and Pluto till July 1.

During May, the Mercury with its retrograde motion stays in sidereal Aries (in the ninth house of his progressive chart) till May 23, then on May 23 it becomes direct in sidereal Aries and remains in Aries till the end of the month.

The unfavorable ninth house Mercury means, he will have to deal with delays, obstacles and direct confrontation not only with his adversaries but with some of his own cabinet members.

Sun is presently transiting through the unfavorable ninth house of his progressive chart till May 14. And then however for the remaining part of the month, through the favorable tenth house of his progressive chart.  As a result, until May 14,  he will continue to face difficulties in dealing with his adversaries, sometimes resulting in direct insult, despair resulting in tremendous mental stress.  After May 14, due to Sun’s transit through the favorable tenth house of his progressive chart, he will likely to succeed in dealing with the both the domestic and international issues.  His popularity (public opinion poll) will be on rise and overall he will do well.

Pluto being placed in favorable 5th house of progressive chart, Pluto continues to provide him with a positive and refreshing change enabling him to govern the country with a higher degree of confidence.

Thus, overall, May does look to be challenging for him. He is likely to find the second half of the month far less challenging than the first half of the month.

About USA…..

The manifestation of the Uranus-Saturn (May 30 – June 4) ninefold square may be reflectedin a social or political turmoil in the USA.  The relationship between the USA and Russia or China is likely to turn sour.

The Neptune-Uranus (April 16 – May 7) ninefold conjunction may become responsible for a sudden change (either positive and negative) in relationship between USA and Russia, magnificent advances in science and technology through innovations, inventions, and discoveries.

As a result of a deadly Mars-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio, the Republican Party will continue to go through a dramatic and painful experience since Saturn represents conservative principles.

Religion….

The Saturn-Jupiter (May 16 – June 1) square may become responsible for a challenging period for world religious leaders to carryout their activities.  The possibility of more controversies that test traditional moral values are likely to occur, and in general, religious authorities will have difficulty in keeping people happy.
